NEW: Friends of Charles Darwin support MHAG

We support all campaigners dedicated to the fight against the development of Maer Hills providing they stay within the law.

Save Maer Hills...
(but don't blow your credibility in the process!)

For the avoidance of doubt: we oppose the building of a holiday camp on Maer Hills, but we support the building of a wind farm if is shown to be viable.

Anybody reading the latest edition of the Whitmore Parish Council newsletter could be forgiven for thinking they had forgotten their pubic duties and entered the propaganda business. Not only is there a full page article by one of the parish councillors which refers to such bollox as "the eyesore of the turbines" and their "deafening noise" (yeah, right! ) but the entire back page of the said rag is devoted to an admittedly fairly factual article by the Maer Hills Protection Group.

The developers, however, seem to be taking a more intelligent line in their investigations. Unlike the Parish Council who seem to assume that the Maer Hills Protection Group have a monopoly on public opinion in the area they have commissioned a telephone survey undertaken anonymously by a bona fide market research company to gauge true feelings in the area about wind turbine power generation.

Followers of the development of public policy on onshore wind developments will be aware that the Government is currently facing a dilemma. The UK's installed base of wind power generation is currently around 1GW, with around four times that held up somewhere in the planning process. The time taken for a wind development to come on line after first proposal is around TEN YEARS and that is clearly far too long if they are to have a hope of meeting legally binding renewable energy targets.

The fact is: planning restrictions on wind power developments are set to be relaxed - probably quite soon - and a whole raft of wind energy projects which are held up by red tape will be permitted.

So before you start campaigning against a few wind turbines which are going to get built anyway THINK!  Do you want to be seen as:

a) a NIMBY
b) totally ignorant about the realities of climate change
c) someone who leaves your grandchildren to pick up the consequences of your own stupidity
d)
a total f*ckwit

... take your pick.

Because if you are: then kiss goodbye to your chances of being taken seriously on anything else you say.

The TRUTH......

A windfarm makes it far less likely that any further development will ever take place, leaving the rest of the environment undisturbed.

Windmills have co-existed with nature for centuries.

Windmills are not ugly - they are graceful symbols of a cleaner sustainable future which remind us to respect the climate that sustains us.

Wind turbines are not noisy - the noise of the wind in the trees easily drowns out the sound of the sails. We know: we visited a big windfarm in Yorkshire to check it out.

True: the wind does not blow all the time - but a combination of wind, tidal, wave and solar coupled with a new pan-European supergrid will help to ensure we have energy for a sustainable future.

Anti-windfarm campaigners in Cumbria, Skye and elsewhere are rapidly starting to look like a bunch of complete idiots.

So engage brain and...THINK!!!!

ANYBODY TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE SHOULD LEAVE THE PLANET NOW!

Anybody who cares about climate change can get cheap biodiesel from here

Now: the Evolution Leisure Village is a completely different matter. So on with the show...

  • a job creation scheme in an area of full employment?

  • a holiday resort in an area where there's nothing to do?

  • destroy a habitat to make an eco-park?

  • a property developer who's never built a thing?

  • proposals that look like the back of a fag packet?

  • ALL ON THE SAME SITE...!!!

WHO'S KIDDING WHO?

Anyone with half a brain can work out that the Evolution Leisure Village is never going to be built.  It's a planning proposal  that includes * a wind farm * building of 800 houses * a golf course and hotels * a leisure park * sand and gravel extraction - all bundled and dressed up to look green and eco-sexy.

PROBLEM: none of those elements could realistically co-exist with any of the others on the same site.

PLANNING PERMISSION FOR ANY ONE OF THEM WOULD SUIT THE PROPERTY SPECULATORS' PURPOSE: TAKE THE PROFIT AND RUN!

We've been investigating - READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!

Over the coming weeks we will be developing this website as a source of information and comment....

But remember...

"All that is required for evil to triumph  is that good men do nothing."

(Martin Luther King)

And there plenty of politicians who believe anything they're told (especially by property speculators) SO.....

Send us your news and comments!
