Remember: that there will be people
out there who were initially in favour of the scheme - but when
given reason to think again will realise that everything is not
what the slick marketeers with their hype would have us believe.
Effective campaigning is all about making sure that everybody
affected is well versed in the objections, knowing what they
believe and why. This website is all about handing power to the
people who matter - YOU!!!
So keep them
coming and we'll get them up here.....

THEY ARE PLAYING THE OLD GREEN
CARD COVER....MORE LIKE WHITEWASH.
I AM FROM SOUTH STAFFS AND WE HAVE KEPT AT BAY A SIMILAR
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT. THEY TOO WERE PLAYING THE OLD GREEN
CHESTNUT, WHILST THE REALITY WOULD BE DESTROYING ACRES OF
OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY, DISTURBING RARE WILDLIFE, BATS,
SLOWWORMS ETC. AND SUPERB ARCHAEOLOGICALLY IMPORTANT CAVE
DWELLINGS.
COUNCILS APPEAR BLIND UNTIL THE VOTERS ARE RATTLED IN BIG
NUMBERS.

THE TROOPS.

KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN GATHER.

I'm a big fan of wind power -
face facts if we want a sustainable economy we can't do it
without using wind power, and yes it does work! But making it
work involves avoiding tall trees. This development goes against
the whole ethos of sustainable development and shows wind energy
up in a very bad light. If Claymoss want to do an environmental
development why not buy one of the many brownfield sites in
Stoke-on-Trent or Newcastle and do a Bed-Zed type development.
This is clearly a wind powered smoke screen to help secure
planning permission.

Darwin spinning in his grave
"Writing in
his
autobiography towards the end of his
life, Darwin fondly remembered his days at
Maer:
My
visits to Maer […] were quite
delightful, independently of the
autumnal shooting. Life there was
perfectly free; the country was very
pleasant for walking or riding.
The Maer
Hills Action Group makes a strong case that
the proposed property development seems
speculative in the extreme:
[Extract from MHAG website...]
That's
right, the cheeky property developers have
the nerve to call the proposed new
development The Evolution Leisure
Village. Darwin must be spinning in
his grave.
I wish the
Maer Hills Action Group the best of luck
with their campaign."

Environmentally friendly! yes
that is exactly what it is in its natural state. Leave well
alone, and let the people enjoy what is truly a natural habitat.
No planning permission should
be entertained just for the greed of a few members of society
who want a get rich quick scheme.
We know that there is no
intention to build this village, so don't assume we are all
morons in North Staffordshire.
Keep out Claymoss and build
the village in your own backyard.

As residents of Ashley, my wife and
I recently attended the Claymoss Properties presentation at
Slater’s. I agree that the proposed development is
environmentally disastrous to the area and it is a fallacy that
the plans have any environmental benefit. The best environmental
option is to leave the area as it is. I am particularly cynical
about the benefit of wind turbines in reducing carbon emissions.
Invariably they do not work to their designed output and some
technical studies conclude that they have a deleterious effect
on greenhouse emissions, bearing in mind energy to produce them
in the first place and need to bring conventional generating
capacity online to compensate for their ineffectiveness.

Thank you for an excellent exposé of
the truth behind Claymoss’s proposals. It is unbelievable (but
true, sadly) that some members of the Borough Council have been
taken in by Claymoss’s leaflet and are actually promoting the
proposal on their own websites. I have printed off your download
leaflet and other information from your website and sent a copy
to every member of the Borough council. It is very important
that ALL the councillors are informed of the truth behind this
preposterous proposal and know the real facts BEFORE Claymoss’s
formal planning application ever reaches them. I hope that
EVERYONE will OBJECT as LOUDLY as possible and see this bunch
off!
I have lived in this area getting on for half my life. My
children grew up here and we enjoyed many afternoons walking in
the Maer Hills. Now my grandchildren are getting to know and
enjoy them too. There have been plenty of proposals in the past,
threatening Maer Hills and other places in the Maer/Whitmore
area, and we have always seen them off. My husband and I always
took action, and I will do my bit now. Young or old, the more
voices raised in objection the better. The Maer Hills are a
special area with links to ancient history and some important
plants and wildlife. And of course their association with
Charles Darwin adds to their specialness.
Keep up the good work.

My family and I are very concerned
about this proposal which is so completely unrealistic and
fatally flawed. It is simply ridiculous. I was astounded by the
propaganda delivered to local householders asking for comments.
The comment card proforma is engineered to make the respondent
agree with the proposal, and very misleading. These comment
cards we are told, should be sent to Evolution. My concern is
that these responses would be vetted, and some may never even be
disclosed to the planning authority (if you read the small print
on the back, they say they only reserve the right to disclose
them). All protesters must write directly to the council
planning department!
This development must be stopped.

Have you been able to access any
kind of detailed plans for the development? All I have been able
to find is the promotional leaflet and the website. As you say,
Claymoss Properties are somewhat elusive and although I've
contacted PPS to request a detailed plan I have had no response.
If I am able to get hold of a plan I will happily share my
findings with you. I hope your meeting is successful on Thursday
and would really appreciate any suggestions you might be able to
make with regards to finding further information about the
development.

I am amazed and disgusted that a
venture such as the Evolution Village could ever be even be
contemplated! I use the woods 2/3 times a week for mountain
biking and it is a beautiful place.
If the Claymore Group is so
environmentally friendly why would they want to destroy one of
the last remaining pieces of woodland in North Staffordshire? I
totally agree with your actions in trying (and succeeding) to
prevent this wanton destruction in the name of 'the
environment'.MD 1 Oct 06

WHAT A FANTASTIC SITE. YOU
HAVE SUMMED UP THE FEELINGS OF ALL THOSE AGAINST THIS
DEVELOPMENT AND I AM SURE YOU WILL GENERATE MASSIVE
SUPPORT. I LIVE ON THE A51 AND KNOW I WILL SUFFER
GREATLY FROM THIS . KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WE ARE ALL
BEHIND YOU ON THIS IT CANNOT HAPPEN.
I attended the sham of a display
at Slaters and I was present at Aston village hall, I shall
also be attending the next meeting in Baldwins Gate
I also have the misfortune to
have the entrance to my home situated some 100yards or so
from this "holiday camps" proposed entrance.
